Merrit Apples Organic Family Orchard

Rose and Alan Merritt grow exceptionally beautiful and tasty organic Jonagold apples. Merritt Apples has proven that fabulous apples can be grown in the cool and moist Skagit Valley, nestled between the Cascade Mountains and the waters of Puget Sound.

Merritt Apples began in 1972 when Alan Merritt planted a few Gravenstein apple trees on his father's dairy farm adjacent to the Puget Sound in Bayview. Eventual success prompted Alan to quit his day job and jump into his new career as an orchardist. He planted Gala and Jonagold along with several other test varieties, and today Alan is one of the largest apple growers west of the Cascades. He and his wife Rose have 50 acres of apple trees on their farm on Farm to Market Road and another 20 acres on Bayview Edison Road where they lease the land from Alan’s parents. They love to have visitors come to their farm.
