Organic Olympic Asian Pear

The Olympic is a very large, orange-brown russetted Asian Pear from Korea. Its is super sweet, having a higher percentage of sugar (up to 17%) than other Asian Pears. It makes a great dessert or healthy snack. The Olympic is the last Asian Pear of the season, with harvest beginning in mid October.

Although they first appeared in US markets in the 1980's, Asian Pears are the oldest cultivated pears in the world, dating back to 1100 BC in Japan, China and Korea. Despite their recent introduction, Asian Pears are already a great favorite of western consumers, and their popularity is sure to continue to grow. Asian Pears are picked ripe and ready to eat and should be kept refrigerated to maintain their distinctively crisp, crunchy texture.
